oh yeah, it’s still TMI Tuesday. now that I’m chill, anyone got any questions before I sleep?

Writer ask! 02, 10, 12, 18, 28, 32, 36, 42, 50

02: What was your favorite book growing up?

I had several. A Boy and His Horse was probably my first favorite book. But I loved the Harry Potter series too, and I really loved The Secret of Dragonhome. I don’t even know how many times I’ve read it by now.

10: What’s your biggest writer pet-peeve?

Does this mean things that annoy me as a writer or things that annoy me that writers do? As a writer, it pisses me off when people say “I like this but I’d have liked ___ better.” It’s okay when it’s critique, but when people just say “yeah this was cool and all but you should’ve made it this pairing or this should’ve happened instead.” Like, don’t read it then…?

The biggest thing that annoys me that writers do (and I’m thinking of Cassandra Clare) is try to insert stupid humor into situations where it’s not needed. Case in point, being in the middle of a battle and making jokes or kissing your significant other. Because that toootally wouldn’t get you killed…

12: Who is your favorite author?

I think it’s a tie between Neil Gaiman and Khaled Hosseini. Gaiman’s books are always so funny and clever, but Hosseini’s are just beautiful and poignant.

18: How do you feel about love triangles?

I hate them. If they’re done well, it’s okay. But 9/10 times you already know exactly who the protagonist is going to end up with, so it’s an incredibly boring plot device.

28: Which do you find hardest: the beginning, the middle, or the end?

Beginning. I’ve always had a tough time with it.

32: How do you feel about friends and close relatives reading your work?

It makes me reeeeeeeally uncomfortable.

36: Do you listen to music when you write?

Yes. Always instrumental. I often listen to Olafur Arnalds or Mogwin, and I listen to a lot of post-rock.

42: Do you enjoy making your characters suffer?

Hell yes.

50: If you could live in any fictional world, which would it be?

Harry Potter!

some of y’all need to sit the fuck down and stop trying to find ways to justify everything you do and attacking people who disagree with you

jesus christ
